Sara Lorusso's Delicate, Intimate, Natural Images Celebrate Female Sexuality With Grace

Italian artist Sara Lorusso, 21, specializes in photographing babies, and we don't mean toddlers. Lorusso explains: "My work is about sexuality. Images that are a sophisticated, delicate and intimate metaphor of sex."

“Each woman, according to my point of view, should feel free to show her sexuality without fear of being misjudged. This is why I decided to start this photographic project, to show my idea of sex, which is not to be confused with pornography, not necessarily when we speak about sexuality must we think of dirty pictures and thrusts. Indeed my photographs are a metaphor, as if we were carrying it into a parallel reality, in an idyllic world, made of flowers, fruits and good things.” The full project is taken with an analog camera and the subjects are girls who share her idea of free sexuality. “Our body is a work of art, made f curves, mountains and colors and I think it must be shown without filters. And some of these shots I’ve made together with my boyfriend; this has given me even more strength, as he supports the independence of women and I want to thank him for that.”

AOC shares Lorusso's work the day after Pope Francis announced in Sweden that women will never become priests. It's this battle over the control of female bodies -- and our sexuality --  by most religious doctrines that lies in the heart of our editorial philosophy.  This young, very talented Italian woman artist offers us images that enhance our creative experience and discussion of female sexuality. ~ Anne
