Anne of Carversville is comfortable diving into the loss of power and influence for women, with the rise of Christian monotheism and the obliteration of the history of goddess worship from earlier Sumerian culture, as well as later Greek and Roman cultures.

We are more reticient to write about pre-Islamic cultures in Arabia or to navigate the identity dynamics between Egyptians and Arabs in any discussion of goddesses. Today we share the names and brief history of three Arab goddesses: Al-Lat, Al-Uzza and Manat.

Daria Werbowy Plunges Into Gucci's Marina Chain Campaign Lensed by David Sims

Daria Werbowy Plunges Into Gucci's Marina Chain Campaign Lensed by David Sims

Canadian-Ukrainian fashion model goddess Daria Werbowy has been sorely missed since she left fashion modeling in 2016.

Daria is set to return to fashion world — on her terms and ONLY on her terms. Phoebe Philo’s eponymous new label, due to launch in September but not with a runway show, delivers a long-anticipated re-pairing of artist and muse.

Apparently, Daria Werbowy is also part of the Gucci relaunch. In these new images, the model and muse is seen in the chunky gold Gucci Marina Chain jewelry, magnifying an archival motif inspired by the maritime world.

It’s expected that Daria Werbowy will be the face of a larger fashion campaign, beyond this jewelry release photographed in Los Angeles at Chateau Marmont by David Sims [IG], with styling by Alastair McKimm.

Anne of Carversville doesn’t have current Daria Werbowy archives, but we’re spending a lot of time reassembling her best work in our very successful project of refreshing archives pre-2020. Note that these redone archives aren’t in chronological order.

Final details are being worked out, but Botswana’s biggest complaints about the old agreement are resolved.

Under the old agreement, Botswana received 25 percent of the rough stones extracted, while De Beers took the remaining 75 percent.

Moving to Equal Diamond Sharing

Immediately, Botswana will receive a 30 percent share, with an escalating increase to 50 percent within a decade. De Beers and Botswana officials have both confirmed this change.

Louis Vuitton 'Deep Time' High Jewelry Ode to Earthly Evolution with Ana De Armas

Louis Vuitton revealed the fifth creative session of the Maison’s high jewelry collection called ‘Deep Time’, choosing the Odeon of Herodes Atticus under the Acropolis, one of the oldest open-air theatres in the world for the presentation.

Louis Vuitton Ambassador Ana De Armas is photographed wearing select pieces from Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director of Watches and Jewelry Francesca Amfitheatrof’s ‘Deep Time’ collection.

Probing the evolution of the Earth and the history of our planet for millions of years before the first spark of life joined unmined geological riches, Francesca Amfitheatrof weaves geographical, philosophical and mythological references into each magnificent piece of ‘Deep Time’ high jewelry.

In fact, on Thursday, writing about a fashion story with Jessica Stam in Vogue Greece set in Santorini — but not knowing until now that Stam is wearing ‘Deep Time’ necklaces on two covers — Lulu took us on a historic tour of the volcano that erupted in Santorini and wiped parts of pre-historic Greece and also late Minoan civilization off the face of the Earth for hundreds of years.

Schiaparelli 's Daniel Roseberry Creates Bold, Fearless, Body Parts Artistry

Schiaparelli 's Daniel Roseberry Creates Bold, Fearless, Body Parts Artistry

In the 1930s, Schiaparelli often collaborated with Salvador Dali, the brilliant Spanish surrealist artist, to create a line of groundbreaking garments and accessories that defied conventional norms and pushed the boundaries of creativity.

Dali's surrealistic touch added a touch of madness and intrigue to Schiaparelli's designs. Together, they created pieces that challenged conventions and explored the realm of the subconscious but also the human body.

Body Language

Eyes, ears, nose, lips, and hands were among Elsa’s obsessions and were particularly evident in the collaborative artistic relationship of Schiaparelli and Salvador Dalí.

These glamorous and bold accessories reflect the wit and artistic gamesmanship of the Schiaparelli legacy in a totally-modern style under Creative Director Daniel Roseberry. This series of Spring/Summer 2023 images was shot by Alina Gross [IG].

Bulgari's Eiza González in L'Officiel Paris Wonder Women Issue by Nick Thompson

Bulgari's Eiza González in L'Officiel Paris Wonder Women Issue by Nick Thompson

Bulgari [IG] ambassador and on-fire actor Eiza González celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Serpenti collection, gracing the cover of L’Officiel Paris’s [IG] June-July 2023 issue in a dazzling set of Bulgari High Jewelry diamonds.

In a refreshing voice about hard work, the upcoming The Three Body Problem star attributes her strong work ethic to growing up in Mexico City, while noting that America has benefitted from the attitude of her people.

“ I come from a culture where we work, work, work, work, work. In America, some of the hardest working people you will see — underpaid — are Mexican people or Latin people. We have always been taught to work and work harder, and then after you work harder, work harder than that.”

Nick Thompson [IG] shoots the actor’s ‘Stands Strong’ fashion story for The Wonder Women Issue.

In AOC’s opinion, feminism and women’s rights leaders haven’t given enough voice to the experiences of women from Mexico and Central and South America, where there are matriarchal traditions far stronger than in American history.

Eiza González speaks fiercely to the importance of her values in everything she does.

Deepika Padukone Stars in Launch of Cartier “Le Voyage Recommencé Collection” May 2023

In one her first photoshoot since becoming a Cartier ambassador, Deepika Padukone shares images of her wearing extraordinary pieces from the French Maison’s new high jewelry “Le Voyage Recommencé Collection”, lensed by Johan Sandberg [IG].

An elaborate soirée in Florence in the gorgeous garden of the Palazzo Corsini, was the scene of the new collection’s unveiling. The palace is known for its artistic heritage and is home to works by Rubens, Fra Angelico, and Caravaggio.

As Jacqueline Karachi, Director of High Jewelry Creation at Cartier describes it, the new Le Voyage Recommencé is "a journey back to the heart of Cartier creation, an uninterrupted story being told over time."

Louis Cartier discovered the "Islamic arts" exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1903, which led to a long-standing presence of Islamic inspired geometric motifs, arabesques, and peacock motifs in the brand’s pieces.
