Ayo Edebiri and Luca Guadagnino Talk Films and Acting in W Magazine March 2025

“I was in Chicago shooting ‘The Bear’,” Ayo Edebiri tells Lynn Hirschberg, writing for W Magazine’s March 2025 cover story. “Luca and I met over Zoom and ended up talking for two hours about the script and life and films.”

The script in question is ‘After the Hunt’, directed by Luca Guadagnino, who also photographs Edebiri for W Magazine, as they pay homage to his favorite actors from the ’60s. “I especially love Sophia Loren,” he said. “And, of course, Ingrid Bergman.”

Edebiri has won both an Emmy and a Golden Globe for outstanding supporting actress and best female actor, respectively, for her work on ‘The Bear’.

Guadagnino has released two highly praised films in the last year: ‘Challengers’, a ménage à trois power struggle set in the world of tennis, and ‘Queer’, an adaptation of the famous William S. Burroughs novel, set in Mexico City in the ’50s.

Hours ago, ‘After the Hunt’ landed a limited theatrical release date of Oct. 10 from Amazon MGM Studios, with theaters nationwide Oct. 17.

Vogue Philippines Takes Us to Baguio and Cordillera Cool, Lensed by Borgy Angeles

Vogue Philippines takes us to ‘Baguio and Beyond: Fresh Fashion Framed by Cordillera Cool’, the cover story for its February 2025 issue. Manila-based photographer Borgy Angeles [IG] captures the vibrancy of Baguio — if not its history and America’s role in creating it [literally].

We meet at the Cordilleras, where “craft, community, and indigenous wisdom reverberate through the land. Models Lake Cabrias, who the team scouted from its Manila casting call, and Fofai, who hails from the Kalinga region, hold handwoven lampshades on their hips and wear Filipino designers’ works inspired by the crafts that come out of these unique, divine-inspired lands.

America’s Colonial Ties to the Philippines

The American colonization of the Philippines happened through the Treaty of Paris at the close of the Spanish-American War in 1898. Months later, the Philippine-American War broke out in 1899, as Filipino revolutionaries sought genuine autonomy after years of Spanish dominance.

The war, which lasted until 1902, was marked by brutal combat and significant casualties, ultimately resulting in the establishment of American sovereignty over the islands.

Oriana Fallaci: The World’s Fearless Journalist

The early years of Oriana Falluci’s career, the late 1950s, when she was still called "the girl from the movies" working for ‘L'Europeo’ are not exposed widely in Italy or globally. This history is the focus of ‘Miss Fallaci Takes America’.

The idea for the TV series grew out of Italian/British writer director Alessandra Gonnella’s short film ‘A Cup of Coffee with Marilyn’, filmed in London in 2019. That short was based on the true story about a young Oriana Fallaci, living in America and chasing Marilyn Monroe for an interview in the 50s. The short film received wide exposure and recognition, especially in Italy where it was awarded the best fiction short film prize in 2020 by the Italian Union of Film Critics.

Naomi Osaka In Bazaar Australia as Pro Tennis 2025 Goes Live in Melbourne

Naomi Osaka covers the January 2025 issue of Harper’s Bazaar Australia/New Zealand [IG] styled by Sue Choi in the Louis Vuitton story lensed by John Russo [IG]./ Hair by Marty Harper; makeup by Autumn Moultrie

The tennis pro reached the semi-final match of a warmup tournament in Auckland, New Zealand. Tennis watchers reported Osaka playing some of her best tennis in years, before meeting Denmark’s Clara Tauson last Sunday.

After winning the first set 6-4, the America-residing new mother, who plays for Japan, called a timeout and ceded the match to Tauson, after complaining of an unidentified injury, now believed to be an abdominal muscle.

For tennis media to note those facts about Naomi Osaka is not racism. It’s reality.

Update: After a great start in Melbourne, Osaka exited the competition on Fri. Jan. 17 in the third round, again suffering from her abdominal injury which apparently has been with her for a long time.

AOC commented that Osaka is publicly weeping on the court again, and so does large website sportskeeda. Naomi talks about wanting to fill Serena’s shoes as a role model. No comment from AOC.

Osaka can start the process of leadership at age 27 by stopping this constant weeping whenever she is under pressure. AOC notes that Osaka was calm and didn’t weep exiting Melbourne. Her mental-fragility moments happen so often, but not on Jan. 17.

Dreams of Inclusion, Positivity and Justice in Harper's Bazaar España January 2025

Harper's Bazaar España January 2025: Dreams of Inclusion, Positivity and Justice

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of dreams,” America’s once First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt said. Her tenure as First Lady, from 1933 to 1945, coincided with the Great Depression and World War II, periods that demanded strong leadership and a renewed sense of hope.

The theme of Dreams is central to Harper’s Bazaar España’s [IG] January 2025 issue. Rising Nigerian model Mayowa Adagunduro carries the torch of strong sentiments expressed by Bazaar Spain, in an issue that goes far deeper than best new fashion looks for 2025, based on their introductory commentary.

Bazaar openly embraces words like diversity and inclusion at the very time these themes are under attack in America and elsewhere on the global fashion circuit. In their own sentiments, Bazaar Spain embraces themes of inclusion, positivity and a new and permanent fashion reality as Dreams of their own.

Mateos is planting a flag in this moment, and AOC respects her deeply for doing so. So let me give her an additional boost by sharing additional inspiration from a former First Lady at one of the most troubled times in global history ever.

Kaia Gerber's Vogue US December 2024, Marc Jacobs Cover Story Life Is a Grand Salon

American Vogue’s [IG] December 2024 issue is guest-edited by Marc Jacobs [IG], who turned to his close friend and former protegé Kaia Gerber [IG] as his Marc Jacobs cover girl. Photographer Steven Meisel [IG] captures Gerber, who has spread her career-girl self with unassuming but very wide wings into what Iowa calls a West Coast/East Coat elitist, snob-fest for pseudo intellectuals. For the record, Kaia Gerber is not that person.

A simple example of Gerber’s search of life’s opportunities was her appearance in the i-D Spring 2020 Icons Issue, interviewed by ‘Slave Play’ playwright and now good friend Jeremy O. Harris.

In a six-degrees-of-separation moment, Gerber notes in her Library Science book club interview below of Will Arbery that he is a friend of Jeremy O. Harris, whose ‘Slave Play’ production took London’s West End theatre culture by the throat in the second half of 2024.

Dana Spiotta’s interview ends on a high note, an evening at legendary The Chelsea hotel, with a Library Science [Kaia’s book club] event. One of Gerber’s favorite books is ‘Just Kids’, Patti Smith’s memoir of New York in the early ’70s.

This night the supermodel, actor, activist, and thoughtful human being was hosting readings by authors connected to the legendary Chelsea. One was Alexandra Auder, author of the memoir ‘Don't Call Me Home’.
