Brand Trump Sees Presidency As Goose That Laid the Golden Egg As Sales Plummet at Ivanka Trump Brand

Donald Trump and Family Seem Upset They Can't Make Money Off the White House W Magazine

I've worked in fashion and women's lifestyle consulting for a long time. I've never seen an entire industry loathe a family more than the Trumps. The W Magazine headline says everything in an industry that has launched a massive effort for Planned Parenthood for New York Fashion week.

The big news this week has been the absurd attack on Nordstrom's right to cease carrying the Ivanka Trump brand, due to poor sales. The more Trump, Conway and Spicer defend the Nordstrom attack in interviews and Tweets, the worse the news gets for the Ivanka Trump brand.

Fortune writes that CNBC reports that receipts analyzed by Slice Intelligence (a panel of 4.4 million Internet shoppers) show a 26% decrease in sales of Ivanka Trump goods on Amazon, Bloomingdale's, Macy's Zappos and Nordstrom -- the top sellers of her brand. Slice confirms that sales of Ivanka Trump merchandise fell 63% at Nordstrom between the election and January 1, 2017. Zappos fell 43% while Amazon dropped 31%.

It is true that Ivanka Trump products fared better on Macy.com -- with a 30% increase -- and Bloomingdales.com -- up 9%. However, the rates of growth were much slower than in the first half of 2016.

Trump Works to Defund Planned Parenthood, Ending Critical Healthcare For Poor Women, While Melania Admits Her Strategy To Go For Gold

The admission by Melania Trump of how she intended to use her position as First Lady to build a global brand has left all us aghast -- even if it received minor media coverage. With legal documents released in conjunction with Melania's defamation lawsuit against an Internet blogger, her strategy was fully revealed.

"Plaintiff had the unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, as an extremely famous and well-known person, as well as a former professional model and brand spokesperson, and successful businesswoman, to launch a broad-based commercial brand in multiple product categories, each of which could have garnered multi-million dollar business relationships for a multi-year term during which Plaintiff is one of the most photographed women in the world," read the filing. "These product categories would have included, among other things, apparel, accessories, shoes, jewelry, cosmetics, hair care, skin care and fragrance."

The New York Times editorial board seemed stunned at the perceived admission by Trump's lawyers that the new First Lady seemed to admit she planned to commercially profit off of her new role in the spotlight. Our beloved Michelle Obama wanted to educate girls worldwide, get kids to exercise and eat/grow healthy food in their own community gardens. Melania Trump wants to sell stuff to enrich her already golden coffers.

The optics reinforce the clear message that Trump White House is particularly angry at any damage made to any Trump-related fashion brands, whether they be previously existing as with the Ivanka Trump brand or -- in Melania's case -- accruing from her new role in the spotlight. ~ Anne

Trump Tweets Attack on Nordstrom

President Donald Trump took not only to his own Twitter account today, but to the official POTUS account -- the OFFICIAL account of the President of the United States -- to decry the decision of Nordstrom and other retailers like Neiman Marcus over their decisions to stop carrying the Ivanka Trump brand due to poor performance.

The fashion industry is SICK of Donald Trump  using the powers of his office to defund Planned Parenthood AND promote his daughter's company at the same time? Has Ivanka Trump utter one word out of her pretty lips mouth to stand for American women? NO! Ivanka Trump is SILENT on any support for poor women. So the fact that American women don't want to support her brand is related to HER OWN ACTIONS.

The Trump family is a bunch of spoiled crybabies. Disgusting! ~ Anne

Update: Nordstrom Shrugs Off Trump's Twitter Criticism As Shares Climb Bloomberg Politics

After an initial dip, shares of Nordstrom gained 4,1 percent to close the day at $44.53, the stock's largest single-day advance in two months. Nordstrom execs braced themselves after Trump took to Twitter to criticize the retailer for making a solid profit and loss business decision in ending their relationship with the Ivanka Trump brand. Trump prides himself for stiffing contractors and a history of unpaid bills in his businesses. Yet he criticizes Nordstrom for responding with good business sense.

“We’ve had open conversations with them over the past year to share what we’ve seen, and Ivanka was personally informed of our decision in early January,” Nordstrom said in an e-mailed statement. After sales of the brand “steadily declined,” especially in the second half of last year, continuing to offer the collection no longer made sense."
