Charlize Theron: Scalding in 'Mad Beautiful', UN Hope-Generator in Congo, Ubuntu Values Woman for Dior

Charlize Theron Is Scalding In 'Mad Beautiful' By Mert & Marcus For W Magazine May 2015 AOC Fashion Thru 2019

Actor Charlize Theron was scalding, an absolutely over-the-top fire goddess in W Magazine’s May 2015 cover story ‘Mad Beautiful’, styled by Edward Enninful in images by Mert & Marcus.

After shaving her head for ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, it was clear that Theron was blonde once more, after playing Imperator Furiosa — Mad Max’s only hope of survival in an apocalyptic wasteland.

Whatever fashion empress Theron was playing in the 2015 W Magazine fashion story, photographers Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott rendered Anne breathless, inspired and ready to follow the activist actor anywhere.

Charlize Theron AOC Muse: Founder of CTAOP

We have followed Charlize Theron since we first learned about the South African-born actor who earned an Academy Award for best actress for her performance as a real-life serial killer in Monster [2003] and founded in 2007 CTAOP [Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project].

Anne of Carversville was also founded in 2007 and in the coming years we learned about CTAOP and also Theron’s work as a UN Messenger of Peace.

Charlize Theron Meets Congo’s Dr. Denis Mukwege

The actor’s UN work brought her to the Congo in 2010 to meet with 2018 Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Denis Mukwege, founder of Congo’s Panzi Hospital for Raped Women and a close advisor to nearby ‘City of Joy’. Dr. Mukwege is a surgeon specializing in vaginal fistulas a muscular tear in internal organs caused by violent rape, so brutal that women are often left unable to control their bladder and rectum.

Mukwege thinks that fistula is one of the worst conditions a woman can experience: “A fistula is dramatic for a woman,” he told CNN in a 2009 interview. “Everywhere she goes people don’t want to be around her and reject her, so it’s a disease that is worse than leprosy.”

AOC followed up with stories about Dr. Mukwege, women’s rights activist Christine Schuler Deschryver and American playwright Eve Ensler, author of the ‘Vagina Monologues’ and founder of V-Day. Their ‘City of Joy’ is a residential physical and psychological healing center, and also skills learning center for women recovering from unspeakable sexual assaults as part of daily life in the Congo.

The Panzi hospital and ‘City of Joy’ safe harbor, recovery center for Congolese women are located in close proximity to each other.

Schuler Deschryver is the director of City of Joy, working with staff to oversee day-to-day operations, while Mukwege serves as an adviser and Ensler helps to fundraise and raise awareness. AOC just verified that the 2018 ‘City of Joy’ documentary is still available on Netflix USA. Check your own Netflix country for more information.

Charlize Theron: Smart Sensuality Woman

Returning to Charlize Theron’s sizzling W Magazine 2015 cover story — the start of this post — we made this connection between Theron’s sensuality, activism and acting career history to explore her expanded ambassadorship with Dior, announced Monday from Cannes, France.

Last night I found my forever favorite 2011 Dior ‘J’Adore’ commercial in which Theron spoke to important human values under the unbrella of ubuntu — an African theme very important at AOC.

The actor literally rips diamonds from her throat and throws them on the floor in the J’Adore commercial — because her increasingly naked, sensual-self identity runs much deeper than surface appearances tied to high jewelry.

Considering that Charlize Theron is now the first-ever ambassador of Dior High Jewelry and also Dior Skincare, it’s definitely time to revisit her best work for J’Adore. The first Dior high jewelry commercial could have her picking up her cast-off necklace from the floor and let her two children Jackson, 11, and August, 7, clasp it around her neck.
