Vanessa Trump Files For Uncontested Divorce From Donald Trump Jr.

Presidential daughter-in-law Vanessa Trump filed on Thursday for an uncontested divorce from husband Donald Trump Jr. in Manhattan Supreme Court.

"After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways," the couple said in a joint statement. "We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for your privacy during this time."

Vanessa Trump hired New York based-criminal defense attorney David Feureisen to represent her as reports broke that special counsel Robert Mueller has subpoenaed the Trump Organizations records for his investigation into Russia's meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Tamping down questions about why Vanessa hired such a high-powered attorney for an amicable divorce, a representative for Mrs. Trump said that her "attorney is someone whom she and her family have known for over 20 years. He practices in many areas of the law and … is not (only) a criminal defense attorney." Others confirmed that Feureisen does a lot of civil work and regularly handles divorce cases in New York.

Page Six spoke to Nancy Chemtob, an attorney unassociated with the Trumps’ divorce proceedings, who speculated that Vanessa Trump timed the filing so it could come before the Robert Mueller investigation potentially put her husband’s assets in danger.  Given that rumors about the Trumps mutual estrangement have circulated for over a year, there may be some truth to that pragmatic speculation.

Vanessa Trump has not welcomed living in the spotlight of political life, and is said to believe that her husband's tweets had become "unhinged".
