Mike Bloomberg Makes His Move With Women, Bedrock of Democratic Party

In another affirmation of 2020 Presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg’s deep commitment to Democratic women, the former mayor of New York has recruited five prominent women led by Shari Yost Gold as a senior adviser. Gold’s mission is to recruit wealthy donors to support Democratic candidates in 2020 and beyond.

Gold’s consulting firm previously worked for Sen. Kamala Harris’ 2020 campaign, Federal Election Commission records show, writes CNBC.. Other recruits with ties to Harris include her finance directors Amanda Bailey, Stephanie Sass and Rebecca Keate, according to sources.

Kimberly Peeler-Allen, the co-chair of Higher Heights for America Political Action Committee, which focuses on encouraging black women to vote for the group’s endorsed candidates, Higher Heights is the only national political action committee exclusively dedicated to electing Black women.

“On all of our most urgent challenges, women are leading the way—from the moms demanding an end to gun violence to all of the women who ran for and won seats in Congress in 2018, who I was glad to support. And when we defeat President Trump In November, I know it will be because women rose up to say: Enough!”

The goal for the program, as explained to CNBC, is to create a “loyalty group” for Bloomberg’s campaign, according to one of the organizers. This person said that they are “raising people” instead of raising money.

Many of their targets are backing other candidates, but Bloomberg’s move could potentially put pressure on the donors to withhold funds from other contenders.
