We forget that Hunter Schafer is one of several North Carolina residents who in 2016 challenged the state’s so-called “bathroom law” demanding that people use bathrooms associated with their gender at birth, and not the one of their current gender identity.
Schafer was a junior at the UNC School of the Arts high school when she joined a lawsuit against the new legislation HB2, The Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act signed into law by Governor Pat McCrory.
Labeled male at birth, she transitioned to a female her freshman year of high school. The ‘Euphoria’ star’s parents Katy Schafer and Mac Schafer, a pastor at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church were supportive of Hunter’s transition and noticed at the young age of two years, that their ‘son’ identified strongly with female imagery — even as favorite super heroes.
In her own InStyle September 2020 cover story, Zendaya teased the possibility of new ‘Euphoria’ bridge episodes that might arrive before COVID-delayed second season. Although there is a “beautiful second season that has been written” the creators and cast decided that, “in order to do it the way we want to do it, we need to wait until it’s safer.”
To soothe disappointed fans who just love the HBO show, Zendaya confirms there is “an idea to do a couple of bridge episodes that can be shot safely but aren’t necessarily part of Season 2.” She added, “So, hopefully, we will be able to do those in the coming months. I can’t wait.” Read the entire Hunter Schafer interview at Allure Magazine.
