Updated! Chanel in Dakar | Quentin De Briey Captures Black Beauty Menswear in Senegal for HTSI

Update December 6, 2022: French luxury house Chanel will showcase its Métiers d’art 2023 Collection in Dakar starting today. The three-day event will culminate in a film release on December 8, 2022, 2PM Paris time.

Chanel ambassador Pharrell Williams is on the ground in Dakar, spreading his ‘Humanrace’ message.

Also from the Chanel IG: “On the occasion of the 2022/23 Métiers d’art CHANEL – DAKAR show, and as he celebrates the 20th anniversary of his career, the Senegalese musician NIX reflects on the local creative landscape and his influences: “We have a culture that is very open to the world, we have been influenced by many things, which I see as a richness, and this generates an overflowing creativity today.”

Fresh off his runway walk in the Dior Menswear show at Pyramid Giza, Egypt, Malick Bodian — cover model for this original How To Spend It November 2022 presentation is now PROUDLY in Dakar, Senegal to take part in his home country festivities.

This is very exciting!

How To Spend It Magazine’s November 2022 issue pays homage to late photographer Malick Sidibé, landing in the Sengalese cities of Dakar and Saint Louis with models Elhadji Fall, Kathia Ndong, Malick Bodin, and Pape Seck.

Andreas Peter Krings styles the edgy sophistication menswear that incudes the maximalist velvet separates of Tom Ford, Gucci and Ralph Lauren Purple Label to Alexander McQueen’s abstract “spray paint-esque” patterned suiting, or Brioni’s teal- and toffee-coloured high-shine tuxedos.

Belgian photographer Quentin De Briey [IG] is on the scene in Senegal, creating images that are vibrant, joyous, beautiful and a holiday gift for ubuntu-loving spirits.
