Update 3/4/24: Anne of Carversville, like most private small media, has been circumspect about the Israeli-Gaza conflict. However, I have not been quiet on Israeli media, where I’ve had a presence for years. An article on the progressive website Haaretz on March 3 made my blood boil.

I am sharing my comment, to reinforce the reality that although I am a strong supporter of Israel, I have never supported the Netanyahu government. And I’ve never supported the settlements.

I’ve always supported a Palestinian state and I’m ferocious on Israeli media about the treatment of Palestinians for months.

In an effort to “do something positive” to help with the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Pictures for Palestine was launched earlier this week.

The project has brought together an international group of 150 artists — many covered on Anne of Carversville — who are selling their prints for £100 each, plus DHL shipping.

The sale is raising funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). It remain one of the few remaining organisations still working, distributing medical supplies, aid and food inside Gaza, as the humanitarian situation worsens.

I do not agree with all of the Pictures for Palestine verbiage about Gaza. What we all can agree on is that the people of Gaza are in severe need of our humanity and empathy, because they are suffering tremendously.

This is not the moment for political word salads and debates. And I’m so happy to support both Carlijn and this humanitarian project for medical care in Gaza.

In this moment, a good news announcement is breaking that the Israelis are now allowing fuel into Gaza each day. Factually speaking, all sides agree that there is a lot of previously donated UN fuel in Gaza, but Hamas has taken it for themselves and refuse to share it.

The UN is hardly on the side of Israel in this catastrophe, and they agree there is fuel in Gaza.

The people of Gaza cannot continue without fuel, so thank goodness we have a breakthrough on this issue. The US is confirming the new daily delivery of fuel, and so is the Israeli press.

I intended to buy a print to support the people of Gaza, no matter what. But Carlijn Jacobs made the decision very easy for me.
