In May 2020, Josephine Skriver shared the news that her upcoming nuptials to boyfriend Alex DeLeon were postponed due to the COVID-19 situation.

The Victoria’s Secret star told People Magazine: “People around the world are going through so much worse than a wedding postponement. It would be selfish of us to complain.”
The universe gave back to Josephine Skriver today, as Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition named her their 2020 Rookie of the Year, based on fan voting.
Skriver lives by the mantra “Modeling is not who you are; it’s what you do” and she has shown she follows this principle in all walks of her life, making us proud to have her as a major part of the SI Swimsuit family,” SI Swimsuit editor-in-chief MJ Day said in making the announcement.
It’s also nice to see Josephine Skriver being a SI Rookie of the Year at age 27. AOC has posted large parts of Skriver’s work in fashion and at Victoria’s Secret. And we celebrate her wonderful honor — to an inspiring woman with progressive values.
