Note | Nudity Two weeks ago I posted model Taryn Andreatta’s images from ‘The Offering’, as they appeared on GQ Italia’s website, lensed by photographers Mark Sink & Kristin Hatgi.  Many readers were very impacted by ‘The Offering’ — women as much as men.

Anne: How do you feel about the term ‘sex object’ vs ‘sex symbol’ when applied to women? Is there a difference?

Taryn: Sex object being the more derogatory of the two and probably a more recent term in history does not generate strong feminine ideals. Sex symbol on the other hand, as first given to Marilyn Monroe or Brigitte Bardot, is a potent reference to a women’s sexual ferocity or level of sex appeal according to another’s erotic preferences. Sex Symbols, labeled by our world’s perspective, are based on sociological and biological factors but also integrate the world’s need for an all-encompassing woman to enchant with powerful feminine energy and then to later become notably symbolic.

Anne: What role, then, do women play in your perspective, with regard to their masculine counterpart?

Taryn: Myself — being fascinated at a young age by Greek Mythology and Goddess images who stimulate, arouse, and bewitch their masculine counterpart, leading them to the passions of appetite, gut instinct, and nature — finds that this is the token treasure to my modeling principles.

The Greeks knew with perfect understanding how to love life so evidently seen in their artwork, statuesque pristine human figures, and literature.

I believe its time to redefine the meaning of supermodel to one that challenges conventional thinking, helps to develop new trends, disputes controversy or gladly creates it, and is a vehicle for perpetuating classic feminine ideals, a graceful presence, and a healthy mind-body image.

This is about the art of living one’s passions. Because women are the symbols of maternal growth, beauty, the connections to all things real in life and within humanity, they are the keys to self-expression and human development.
