Then Speak Newt Gingrich sought to impeach President Clinton while he himself was engaged in a six year affair with a staffer.

Rick Perry is now on the Newt Gingrich bandwagon and the relentless march for true social conservative values. Dropping out of the race today, Rick Perry said, via Christian Science Monitor:

“I believe Newt is a conservative visionary who can transform our country… Newt is not perfect, but who among us is? The fact is, there is forgiveness for those who seek God - and I believe in the power of redemption for it is a central tenant of my Christian faith.”

ABC News will air the Brian Ross interview with Newt Gingrich’s wife Marianne tonight at 11:30 pm EST.

In her first television interview since the 1999 divorce, to be broadcast tonight on Nightline, Marianne Gingrich, a self-described conservative Republican, said she is coming forward now so voters can know what she knows about Gingrich.

In her most provocative comments, the ex-Mrs. Gingrich said Newt sought an “open marriage” arrangement so he could have a mistress and a wife.

She said when Gingrich admitted to a six-year affair with a Congressional aide, he asked her if she would share him with the other woman, Callista, who is now married to Gingrich.

“And I just stared at him and he said, ‘Callista doesn’t care what I do,’” Marianne Gingrich told ABC News. “He wanted an open marriage and I refused.”

Marianne described her “shock” at Gingrich’s behavior, including how she says she learned he conducted his affair with Callista “in my bedroom in our apartment in Washington.”

“He always called me at night,” she recalled, “and always ended with ‘I love you.’ Well, she was listening.”

All this happened, she said, during the same time Gingrich condemned President Bill Clinton for his lack of moral leadership.

Around the coffee shops: The Daily Mail writes that Newt’s two daughers from his first marriage Kathy Lubbers and Jackie Cushman sent an emotional letter to ABC in support of their father. It said:

The failure of a marriage is a terrible and emotional experience for everyone involved. Anyone who has had that experience understands it is a personal tragedy filled with regrets, and sometimes differing memories of events.

Our father is running for President because of his grandchildren — so they can inherit the America he loves… To do that, President Obama must be defeated.

We believe the Perry supporter is ultra kind to the Texas governor and use this opportunity to share absolutely valid reasons why Rick Perry would be a hideous choice for president of America — if the focus is people and not his business cronies or the religious ultra-right.

We are speechless that a person with this academic record is running to be president of the United States — and touted by Wall Street. God give us strength to digest Rick Perry’s college transcript! It is horrific.

Perry originally attended Texas A&M University to pursue a pre-veterinary major but switched to animal sciences, reportedly because of his low GPA. In his freshman and sophomore year, Perry struggled with core science classes, earning D’s in several organic chemistry classes and C’s in general chemistry and physics. Perry also got a D in Principles of Economics — this man who says he understands how to restore America’s economy.

The state of Texas has some of the most restrictive policies in the US regarding minors’ access to prescription birth control without parental consent, according to the Dallas Morning News. Texas has the highest rate of teen pregnancy live births in America, according to a 2010 Guttmacher Institute report, while the state ranks 4th in overall pregnancy rate.

While we all celebrate the new survey results suggesting that sexual activity may be down among teens, Texas is a real-world look at what’s ahead for taxpayers. In terms of educational test scores, Texas is at the bottom.

• Texas is #49 in verbal SAT scores in the nation (493) and #46 in average math SAT scores (502).
• Texas is #36 in the nation in high school graduation rates (68%).
