Andrej Pejic by Jacob Dekat+Prince Chenoa | LoveCat #2 | 'Marilyn Off Duty'

(Note: also pubished in Sensuality News Living.)

Real life is so much better than fiction. I woke up this morning having an Andrej Pejic ‘aha’ moment — and I hadn’t checked my email.

Before we get to the Monday morning love note and ‘Marilyn Off Duty’ images from the Prince and LoveCat magazine, I had this Andrej moment on my own.

A couple weeks ago, it hit me that Andrej is just an old soul, after reading his New York Magazine interview comment about leaving his sexuality to ‘artistic interpretation’.

Perhaps Andrej was Cleopatra in an earlier life, because how else would he get this self-confidence to just be himself? He has absoutely wielded power and influence somewhere else in history.

The Eureka moment I had waking up this morning came from my good friend and body psychotherapist Ellen Gayda. I met Ellen this summer, seeking treatment for a serious gym injury, because I was getting nowhere with physical therapy.

Simply stated, we are now soul sisters, and Ellen Gayda has worked rehab wonders — after being willing to touch and fix my dislocated pubic bone lady parts. Ellen runs a workshop on Inhabitance, asking “Are You At Home In Your Body?”.

Now that’s a profound question, when we know that most women hate our bodies. So why doesn’t Andrej suffer from this boring, self-defeating affliction?

Andrej Pejic IS at home in his body, and it shows in his every move. We’ve all made a darling of him, including me — but when I watch Andrej on camera, as I did last Sunday night (see Andrej Pejic as Marilyn Monroe in ‘Norman Jean’ also for LoveCat) — his naturalness before the camera is positively magnetic.

If Andrej Pejic is insecure about his sexual, physical identity, he’s fooled us all. This is his beauty — not only the physicality mentioned by WWD’s Alessandra Codinha, talking up LoveCat’s New York Fashion Week party at Le Bain for this new second issue on Fashion & Film.

Note that Alessandra isn’t as open-minded as I am about Andrej or LoveCat, but she cornered Andrej’s ‘Norman Jean’ director Jenna Elizabeth at Le Bain:

“The thing to understand about Andrej is that he is so g-ddamned beautiful,” Jenna Elizabeth explained from a waterbed on the rooftop of Le Bain, resplendent in purple satin Gucci pants and a black lace vintage top embroidered with gold beads. Her brogues were Prada. “He’s so beautiful that it really makes people uncomfortable. It makes people insecure about their own sexuality…and he just maintains this elegance and confidence.”

Many people and especially women are insecure about our sexuality, with the morality police nipping at our heels globally. And yet Andrej Pejic — who should be in intense therapy according to all the self-help books for women — rises about the crowd of self-doubt and sexual-identity insecurity.

How refreshing! But I still say Andrej is an old soul — a ruler or philosopher, someone famous. People don’t roll out of their mother’s womb with this kind of self-assurance and ability to be so not self-conscious and needy in front of the camera, living at peace with their sensual, physical selves.

To use Ellen Gayda’s term, Andrej has Body Inhabitance and — unlike most women — he makes no apologies for his.

OMG, what a thought!!! if he’s an old soul …  Andrej was born after Marilyn Monroe died. I will channel that possibility with Marilyn at once. This could be the blockbuster tip I’m waiting for as a writer.

Can you just imagine the front page of the New York Post!!! Anne Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld might both take off the shades to read this Andrej Pejic | LoveCat | Marilyn Monroe ménage à trois headline. To be continued …   Anne
