Uma Thurman | Mark Seliger | Harper's Bazaar UK February 2012 |

Actor Uma Thurman is lensed by Mark Seliger with styling by Vanessa Coyle for Harper’s Bazaar UK’s February 2012 issue. The interview, which can be read online here, is a wonderful example of the mindset of the Smart Sensuality woman. I’ll flush this out in much greater detail over the weekend.

On the one hand, Uma Thurman looks like she just walked out of a Tamara de Lempicka painting in these images. Harper’s references Lempicka and I’ve used her endless times in client presentations. Embued with a strong sensual energy, Thurman is not only intellectual — wanting to soak up learning every minute — but very civic-minded. We learn in the interview that she will be attending a gala for Women for Women International, an initiative that provides aid to female survivors of war and civil strife around the world.

Not mentioned in the article is a precious film that Thurman has apparently been finished. ‘Girl Soldier’ will be released in South Africa end of July 2012. Thurman was scheduled to play a nun, when I last wrote about ‘Girl Solder’ two-plus years ago. She may have done this film gratis to support the women of Uganda — which is the kind of financially stupid action taken by Smart Sensuality women.

Girl Soldier is a feature film’s sharp protest against the use of children in armed conflict and an authoritative account of how concerned parents, interfaith groups, and international politicians banded together in a struggle to rescue the girls and to mobilize a people, their country, and a global community. It’s an incredible story of hope, strength and determination in the face of extreme adversity. Written by S. Pinola

These are all attributes of the Smart Sensuality woman, our core reader at AOC and the most important new consumer segment in the years ahead. She is smart, sexy and has heart. She is every age and her values are shared by men who love and support her female-centric vision of the only way forward in the 21st century. Anne
