Knightley was honoured with the Theatre Icon award at London's October 31 Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards.

Imagine taking your young child shopping on an ordinary day in life and strangers come up to you to say: "I hate your work" or "I hate your face". Sometimes it "kind of jokey" says Keira. "I've always found your face so annoying."

Difficult as it is to wrap her mind around these comments, the 'Begin Again' actor says motherhood has helped her to deal with the insults.

"Because honestly the worst that could happen is that you fail. And that’s fine." Knightley previously told Business Insider. I think motherhood puts everything into perspective, I really do. "Ultimately, as long as my kid is all right, everything is fine."

Keira talks candidly more about gender inequalities, childcare and her family.
