Doutzen Kroes Leads Knot On My Planet, Igniting Fashion Industry For Elephant Conservation

Models Constance Jablonski, Doutzen Kroes, Fernanda Ly, Frederikke Sofie, Imaan Hammam, Julia Nobis, Mica Arganaraz and Raquel Zimmermann shine for elephants, lensed by Daniel Jackson for Tiffany & Co. supporting the #KnotOnMyPanet Campaign

Doutzen Kroes has been a voice for elephants and steps up again to lead the Knot On My Planet campaign. Kroes is deadly serious about the need to put an end to the ivory crisis and elephant extinction -- a passion burning inside her since she first visited Samburu, Kenya.

“[The elephant crisis] has been a very hot topic on the news lately as well—almost a third of the population is gone in the last decade,” she said in a September 8 phone call to VF.com. “It's really something to worry about. That's why it's so important to do this campaign; we have to raise awareness that ivory should not be a product anymore. It's something that should be looked at that is disgusting. Elephants are being slaughtered just for that, just for their tusks, and just being left. It's such a sad thing to see and to even think about.”

Sadly, new reports suggest that we are losing ground in the battle to save elephants. The goal of the Knot on My Planet campaign is to raise $15 million for the Elephant Crisis Fund. In addition to Tiffany & Company and these models stepping up for elephants, superwomen Candice Swanepoel, Adriana Lima and Cara Delevigne are on board -- joining Miranda Kerr, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell. These leaders of the campaign will incorporate a knot into their photos on social media to remind people to donate.

There's a large Knot on My Planet event connected to New York Fashion Week tonight (Saturday) with Vogue sharing much more info about the campaign. GLAMTRIBALE donates 5% of our revenues to elephant conservation. This commitment to animals is decades old with me, and I find that elephant conservation has intersected with my life via friends in unique and memorable ways.

Doutzen Kroes is just a superb humanitarian and role model for our planet. Stay tuned for more news on this exciting campaign for these truly beloved and precious elephants. ~ Anne
