Eye: KKW Beauty Classic Red Crème Lipstick Is Perfect Color For Democratic Women Going Bold!
/Superwoman Kim Kardashian is set to fire up followers worldwide with the launch of her first, straight-up red lipstick. Using her own incredible star power, Kardashian West has used her KKW Beauty Instagram pages to create the buildup to launching KKW Beauty’s Classic Red Crème Lipstick online and in a pop-up at South Coast Plaza on Friday Jan. 25. There’s no doubt that the new shade — which is very Old Hollywood glam — creates a new wing of the previously neutrals, nudes, and pinks KKW Beauty assortment. Is KKW becoming as bold as America’s new women presidential candidates, and the newly-elected Democratic party lady posse that has arrived in Washington, DC?
I seem to recall that Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who was just sworn in as the youngest woman ever to serve in Congress, used the public response to her red lipstick as a means of honoring a Supreme Court justice.
"Lip+hoops were inspired by Sonia Sotomayor, who was advised to wear neutral-colored nail polish to her confirmation hearings to avoid scrutiny. She kept her red," Ocasio-Cortez tweeted about the Supreme Court Justice, who is also of Puerto Rican descent, referring to her choice to express herself the way she saw fit and not capitulate to outdated perceptions and arbitrary standards. "Next time someone tells Bronx girls to take off their hoops, they can just say they’re dressing like a Congresswoman."
If Kim is smart, she will introduce a followup color that matches US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s Max Mara red coat. So many women and men responded to Pelosi’s take-no-prisoners style look after walking out of a White House meeting with Trump, that Max Mara is bring back the coat in 2019. My recollection is that Madame Speaker’s coat color has less blue and a bit more brown.
With a mangeable $18 price tag for the lipstick and $12 for the matching liner, Kim Kardashian is setting herself up for a big win in the 2019 beauty business. Marilyn Monroe would be pleased!
The larger question for AOC — that would be Anne of Carversville, not Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, although I did buy AOCStyle.com, to protect myself — is whether a massive crop of new — and old — Democratic women are tired of doing as we are told in America.
If we go boldly red, that means we are walking headfirst into the white boys club called the Republican party, symbolized by the color red. When Democratic and progressive women — and all we hold dear — are under assault by a huge political party, it’s time to fire up the base and our own willpower. I’m sure that if I do some quick research, some psychological study will confirm that women score bigger wins when wearing red lipstick.
The more I think about KKW’s Clasic Red Crème Lipstick, it feels suddenly revolutionary. And that reality isn’t a contradiction to Marilyn Monroe at all, because Monroe was far smarter and politically articulate than anyone credited her for being.
AOC knows that Marilyn Monroe was no dumb blond. Time to hit our archives.
Now my mind is working overtime. The Internet went crazy a year ago, when Kim Kardashian West had the audacity to pose as Jackie Kennedy. I think Kim was plotting her red lipstick revenge all along. The leadership of the official Women’s March may be condemning all white women for our white privilege, but smarter heads will prevail.
I say we march straight into Republican enemy territory and educate every Republican women possible that the future of America is in women’s hands. Educated Republican women were a key factor in delivering massive wins to Democrats in 2018. Many are a lost cause in terms of ever supporting progressive causes like climate change and Planned Parenthood. But many other Republican women have already left the party.
Maybe KKW can get Kanye West to set up a focus group, so we hear what’s on the minds of those women. Then again, those Republican women can’t stand Kanye’s big daddy Trump, so we females must stick together.
