The couple is very involved with select LVMH brands including Tiffany & Co. LVMH is a 50-50 partner in Jay-Z’s "Ace of Spades” champagne business, Armand de Brignac.
It’s the first equal partners deal LVMH has ever done — a form of relinquishing control and being forced to seek consensus with their equal partner. AOC believes that Jay-Z will eventually be named to the LVMH Board of Directors.
Not only is a 50-50 deal unheard of but it plays incredibly well in the Black talent community. Kanye West was running his mouth all Fall 2022, saying no Black man had a 50-50 deal with the money men. It’s hard to believe that he hadn’t heard the news about Jay-Z.
Especially if LVMH hopes to advance Jay-Z into the corporate structure in some way, making him a 50-50 partner in buying into his champagne business gives LVMH a good chance to see how he negotiates when neither party holds the winning hand, and concensus must be achieved.
