Zero + Maria Cornejo Spring 2022 Expands Sustainably-Sourced Fabrics
/Zero + Maria Cornejo promotes itself as “Luxury fashion with a conscience designed and produced in New York by women for women.” Shape and proportion are her guiding passions in the design process, with issue of sustainability front and center in fabric and materials choices.

Maria Cornejo has a gift for creating sensual, female-centric designs using angular, architectural lines and fabrics. In spite of her tag line, not all Zero + Maria Cornejo production is made in New York. In the case of the French terry sweat-shirting from Japan, she is manufacturing the items using the fabric in Japan.
In Turkey, Cornejo is using a Sim jersey fabric made from sustainably sourced viscose and elastane. Items using the fabric are also making the garments. “With sustainability, it’s important to do as little shipping as much as possible, and to keep things local to cut down our carbon footprint,” the designer explains.
