Karlie Kloss Buys i-D Magazine as CEO. Alastair McKimm Now CCO, Global EIC

Karlie Kloss is the proud owner of i-D Magazine, a decade after being featured on i-D’s Spring 2013 cover. AOC shared that fashion story in 2013, and we renewed the story yesterday: Karlie Kloss Is '60s Simplicity For Matt Jones in i-D Spring 2013.

Back then, at age 20, Karlie Kloss was focused on big ideas like space travel — what’s going on in her mind, as opposed to what must-have cosmetics does she carry in her handbag.

“I’d love to know if there are other life forms within our galaxy? I hope I live long enough to experience space travel and perhaps even meet one!”

Fast forward to November 2023, where Karlie’s new media company Bedford Media is flying solo in acquiring i-D Magazine. Karlie posted the 2013 cover w/no words, just a link to i-D, on her IG.

Karlie Kloss “has a deep passion for technology and the intersection of fashion, media and culture and how we can create interconnectivity between the digital and physical worlds,” according to the announcement by her rep.

Karlie will lead the British magazine as CEO, with i-D top editor Alastair McKimm [IG] expanding his role to the title of chief creative officer and global editor-in-chief.

In 2013, at age 20, Karlie was wrestling with other big questions like “How old would you be, if you didn’t know how old you are?” These are the words of a woman who marches to her own inner drumbeat.

‘Promoted’ to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2013, Karlie left the world’s largest lingerie brand two years later in 2015. The always-discreet Karlie Kloss said about her early Angel retirement, that she was pursuing her studies at New York University.

In fall 2020, Kloss led a group that included Kaia Gerber, racecar driver Lewis Hamilton and TV producer Jason Blum to buy W Magazine. Bustle Digital Group joined the acquisition as the operating partner.

Anne of Carversville renewed two Karlie Kloss decade-old fashion stories for readers and friends.

Besides her 2013 i-D Spring cover story and interview link above, we updated her Mario Testino fashion story ‘Lady Luxe’ for British Vogue March 2012.

We share our archives for Karlie Kloss and will highlight Karlie’s personal and philanthropic/activism posts apart from her fashion stories in a separate overview.
