Sesame Chicken and Snow Peas in Apricot Sauce Jane Fonda website

“Apricots are an excellent source of beta carotene, one of the antioxidants I encourage you to consumer regularly for overall good health. Keep dried apricots on hand for snacks, especially in winter when the fresh ones are out of season. This sauce is so delicious that you’ll want to try it without the chicken, sponed over steamed vegetables and rice.”
Ingredients
  • 2 teaspoons dark sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into thin strips
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1/3 cup sliced dried apricots
  • cup water
  • cup apricot preserves
  • 1 tablespoon reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 8 ounces snow peas, ends trimmed

QVC Cancels Jane Fonda

Jane Fonda came to our attention this morning, reading that her scheduled appearance on QVC yesterday was cancelled because conservatives protested her being on the show, saying she is a traitor. Yes, we’re talking QVC owned by Barry Diller, married to Diane von Furstenburg.

I can’t believe that QVC would bow to this kind of pressure, and I called QVC to complain: 800-367-9444, hit 0 for operator.

If you think that you are living in a free country, think again. The millions of women who LOVE Jane Fonda are prohibited from hearing her speak about her new book Prime Time:  Love, health sex, fitness, friendship, spirit — making the most of all your life.

So much for democracy in action!!! QVC is making a joke of democratic principles, choosing censorship and weak-kneed bows to social conservatives instead of civic leadership at such a difficult time in our country.

Jane Fonda’s Adopted Daighter Reconnects with Her Birth Family Jane Fonda website

Did you know that Jane Fonda adopted her daughter Mary Williams when she was 14 and living in the poverty-scathed streets of East Oakland? In this essay, Mary Williams writes about finding her way back to East Oakland.

Apparently QVC doesn’t honor the great deeds of a woman like Jane Fonda, a RARE person who make a cross-race adoption of a 14-year-old. For the vast majority of kids at that age, adoption into any home — let alone Jane Fond’a hacienda in Santa Monica — will never happen.

Grand Central Terminal Retail Success Hurts Old Tenants NYTimes

When Apple proposed opening a store on the balcony overlooking the main hall, it submitted its bid in linen-lined boxes, as if it were a wedding present to transit officials, a source familiar with the application process said. The board is expected to approve the deal at its monthly board meeting next week.

Jeanne Giordano remembers being hired by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in 1988. Giordano, whose company now specializes in renovation projects in New York, was on staff charged with developing the retail portion of the Grand Central renovation. Fresh from an 18-month sabbatical in Italy, Giordano recalls being dismayed making retail pitches to future tenants, as rats roamed in plain eyesight.

While the NYTimes story is one of the challenges to tenants in keeping up with the highly competitive, public nature of the Grand Central Terminal retail landscape, reading about Jeanne Giorano is another pleasure. Her projects include renovations from the FDR Presidential Library and Museum to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, the Staten Island Ferry Terminals to Pier A Battery Park City in NYC.
