AOC has followed closely the rise of South Sudanese model Adut Akech out of the horrors of civil war to the famous Kakuma camp for refugees in Kenya and then to Australia, arriving with her family into the waiting arms of Adut’s aunt.
The word ‘supermodel’ is thrown around so loosely today, that it’s almost meaningless. But the bone structure of Adut’s high-speed career feels very sound, truly solid — in an old-fashioned way. Her editorial work is truly outstanding, and editor-in-chief Edward Enninful pulled out all the stops for ‘My Seditious Heart’. lensed by Arthur Elgort with styling by Grace Coddington for the April 2019 issue of British Vogue. / Hair by Julien D’Ys; makeup by Francelle Daly; set design by Mary Howard
All of Manhattan is on the prowl with the launch of the Louis Vuitton cat-themed collab and pop-up store with famed Vogue fashion editor Grace Coddington. Vuitton fans, muses and cat lovers including Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams and Sienna Miller popped into the orange carpet, opening-night celebration of the capsule collection dubbed Catogram.
Coddington’s whimsical illustrations of her Persian cats, Pumpkin and Blanket, made nice with Vuitton creative director Nicolas Ghesquière’s dog, Léon. The 3 Ninth Avenue space also hosted a few scampering mice on clothing, shoes and leather goods, including silk pajama sets and LV’s iconic Speedy and Petite Malle handbags. Also on view is LV’s 2019 resort collection. Shop til you drop until at the Manhattan pop-up until Nov. 12.
If you schedule doesn’t put you in Manhattan before Nov. 12, book a flight to London, where the exclusive LV Catogram collection is installed at Selfridges until Jan. 16, 2019.
