Angelina Kendall Spotlights Zara 2023 Hot Weather Linen Drop by Daniel Jackson

Rising Brazilian-Australian model Angelina Kendall is one to watch. A bonafide surfer, we’re not sure she qualifies for a role in a Blue Crush movie or a ROXY campaign, but posing as a water babe in Burberry’s Summer 2023 campaign isn’t bad for a rookie.

Made in Europe and North Africa

In a September 2022 Financial Times article on Zara parent Inditex, CEO Oscar García confirmed that the company continues to source “long-haul” basics from Asia, while manufacturing its quick-response production of fashion items at factories in Spain and Portugal as well as sites close to Europe in Turkey and Morocco.

AOC assumes that these fashion beauties are manufactured in the quick-response countries that are also more committed to improving sustainable and ethical manufacturing practices.

Buy Less but Buy Mindfully

Zara actually had an excellent financial 2022 performance by taking the risk of selling fewer items [critical to sustainability efforts] but at “enriched with values” higher price points.

We support this business strategy in our ecologically-fragile world.

Certified 100% European Grown Linen

European-grown linen is a natural fiber that does not require irrigation. It is grown without using genetically modified seeds and avoids synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. It is produced in Western Europe according to the EUROPEAN FLAX® standard of the Alliance for European Flax and Hemp.

Inditex is working on organic cotton in India and Zara has promised a high bar sustainability reach in its fabrics by 2025.

It makes no sense that they would pollute high-grade linen with low-grade cotton, but AOC cannot confirm the cotton used in the linen/cotton blend.

AOC is sounding like a broken record praising the direction Zara is taking. If they can meet their short-term 2025 sustainability goals, they are far from perfect but well on the way to showing us that failure only exists because management refuses to commit to the risk — but also rewards — of the sustainability strategy.

Understanding garment manufacturing and pricing — and business strategy — in great detail, we also give brands a longer runway than many sustainability-focused websites.
