Han Chong Hugs Creatives at Large

In more Self-Portrait news, Portrait founder Han Chong is opening the doors of his expansive studio and headquarters, Harella House, near the Barbican in London, to creatives from all disciplines.

The designer explained to WWD that he wants the program to showcase “ "the way my customers interact with the world, so the opportunities are broad and exciting. I love the idea of exploring different aspects of lifestyle. It could be an experience, a single item, a piece of music, a book or even multiple creators contributing in unexpected ways."

Nothing will replace Louis Vuitton Men’s building a state-of-the-art music studio for Pharrell Williams within the LV Mens design studio. But Chong’s instincts are dead-on right in becoming a ‘patron’ for creatives and clients who regard them as the lifeblood of our collective global culture.

This Self-Portrait initiative is different than an annual philanthropy dinner and awards show honoring different initiatives. It’s much more old school — like real old-school Florence, Italy Medici style.

Christopher Kane November 21 Self-Portrait Residency Drop

Designer Christopher Kane took the stage at Central Saint Martins over the weekend with Lena Dunham for Vogue’s Forces of Fashion London lineup. Kane spoke in-depth about being booked as Self-Portrait’s resident collaborator for 2024.

Vogue describes the relationship as a lifeline for Kane, who has struggled in a tough economic climate and was forced to shutter his label in 2023. “I don’t see it as a failure, I see it as the next chapter. Pain equals joy… more joy, ” Kane told the audience.

Dunham has been privileged with a sneak peek of the new edit, dropping November 2024, saying: “It is sickening, it just makes you want to squeeze his little head off!”
