Louis Vuitton Fall 2023 Women's Fashion Campaign in Paris by Ethan James Green
/AOC is lost and confused in the particulars of the Louis Vuitton Fall 2023 Women’s Fashion Campaign [the LV description on their IG]. It’s so ordinary that without the logo bags and Louis Vuitton name, the images could easily be a Netflix promotion for ‘Emily in Paris’.
Examined against last week’s Louis Vuitton 2024 runway show — which was full of innovation — these images are a pedestrian snoozefest from Louis Vuitton women’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière.
Indian actress Deepika Padukone reclines against Palais Galliera in a lightweight dress and cropped denim jacket, clutching Louis Vuitton's GO-14 handbag. ‘Squid Game’ star Jung Ho-Yeon rides a bike around Paris in a bedazzled top and straight-cut denim, slinging the lattice-printed bag over her shoulder on Pont Alexandre III. Finally, Léa Seydoux and Elaine Zhong complete the campaign at Rue Galliera and Palais Galliera.
Yes, travel is a key DNA plank in the story of Louis Vuitton. I could argue that this reality warrants the House ambassadors Deepika Padukone, Jung Hoyeon, Léa Seydoux, and Elaine Zhong featured here, arriving at global destinations outside of Paris. But I see the logic of promoting Paris in a more artful way.
American photographer Ethan James Green [IG] captures the ambassadors out and about in the City of Lights. Film director is Quentin Saunier.
Did you know that the photographer now has a gallery in Chinatown? Yes, and with significant support and PR exposure for the talented Ethan James Green.
Cultured Magazine takes us to Green’s new art studio and a candid interview about his evolving career. Vogue stopped by the New York Life Gallery studio in fall 2022.
The Spirit of Travel 2014 campaign, shot by Peter Lindbergh in South Africa with models Edie Campbell and Karen Elson is another Louis Vuitton experience that grabs my heart. It’s not disposable and has stuck with me for a decade.
Okay, enough from me, and I don’t mean to be negative. We have a war today in Israel and Gaza. Whether or not Anne likes the Louis Vuitton Fall 2023 campaign is of zero consequence in bettering our world for its people.
