Life In Beautiful Botswana by David Burton | A Smart Sensuality Journey

London-based photographer David Burton showcases the natural beauty of Botswana, in a story about a woman’s quest for self-discovery and enlightenment in this beautiful part of Africa.

Looking at these images causes me to reflect on the first personal writing project that I published as manager of a large university press decades ago. The woman was a nurse with the Peace Corps and she self-published a tender, poignant book of poems about how Botswana impacted her.

The Peace Corps nurse is gone from my life, but her high-impact poems have lived on in my mind.  These beautiful David Burton images resonate with all that AOC is about. To many they are politically incorrect — the white woman “finds herself” in Africa. The nurse’s poems would be battered and bruised today by the pc police — in which Americans lead the way, with the Brits close behind.

I have not updated the 2009 story Botswana Is An Ecological Jewel That Could Sustain Itself. It’s time to revisit what was a promising story about responsible eco-tourism and national development in Botswana, Africa.
