Alla & Aymeline | Josh Olins | 'Flaunt It' | i-D Spring 2011 Exhibitionist Issue

Note| Nudity Just because a woman has a buckle on her bosom, she’s not necessarily bound. These images of Alla Kostromiceva and Aymeline Valade, lensed by Josh Olins for i-D’s Spring 2011 Exhibitionist issue, don’t trigger my BDSM alarm bells, where I feel better if woman is holding the whip.

These dramatic ensembles of Givenchy, Haider Ackermann, Chloe and others, styled by Alastair McKimm, trigger connections like Furies, Spartan women, and warrior goddeses.

Abbey Lee was ‘bound’ in yesterday’s Hedi Slimane editorial for Vogue Russia. Looking at the images again, perhaps the unconscious statements are more nuanced than I first processed them.

As for these Josh Olins images, they are strong women reflecting unconscious truths. ‘Flaunt It’ is about more than fashion, at least from the perspective of Josh Olins — where he knows it or not. Nice.  Anne
