/Carmen Dell’Orefice, Ioanna Dedi, Gintare, Bryn English & Karina Gubanova are all working out and keeping fit to avoid aging in this shoot for Vogue Italia’s June 2013 issue. With Greg Lotus behind the lens and Danny Santiago styling the models, ‘Be In Shape Ever’ takes a look at how exercise can help you look more youthful and fresh.
This shoot makes us question the link between exercise and anti-aging and whether it really exist as the photograph’s portray the older looking woman still seeming to be fit and full of life.
Not only does exercise actually slow down the aging process, it also makes you feel younger and more energetic. Tests at the University of Cambridge showed that physical activity encourages new memory cells to grow in the brain, meaning exercise can help you stay sharp and also improve memory.
But the big one is… You can actually slow down your DNA clock with exercise. That’s what German researchers at the Saarland University Clinic In Homburg discovered, as they discovered that exercising regularly slows down the aging process of your bodies cells.
The ends of our DNA strands contain telmeres and as we get older these get shorter. As they get shorter, the cell dies and a person’s age can be determined by looking at the length of their telomeres. Researchers found that in older people who exercise, there was up to a 75% reduction in telomere shrinking in comparison to those who didn’t exercise.
So, there’s the proof. We can actually slow down our bodies aging process by taking part in exercise regularly over a long term period. Keeping fit just got even more promising! Let’s all use this as the perfect reason to ‘Be In Shape Ever.’
