Demi Moore Decides Her Body Is A-OK

Demi Moore admits in Elle UK that she had an ‘extreme obsession’ with her body. Today, at 47, Demi says she’s happy at last with her figure and is no longer trying to dominate her body.

Reading the Daily Mail’s post about today’s Demi, I can’t help noticing the woman to the left in an ad, sending me a visual image of what I ‘should’ look like after buying their diet pills. Moore wears this corset dress on the Elle UK cover.

Moore admits that, like so many women, she made her body a measure of her own value. It was only in ending her fierce attempt to dominate her body, that she made peace with herself, learning to love the woman — and the body — in the mirror.

Demi Moore has always been a trailblazer. In one of the most famous media covers ever, the startling, news-worthy, career mom was photographed very pregnant by Annie Liebovitz for Vanity Fair magazine.

“I was courageous. I was so courageous! I had no sense of the impact that it would have. I just wanted to push the boundaries. When I said things like ‘I want it all’ that wasn’t appearance from a point of greed. It was appearance from a desire for balance. I wanted to take out the limitations that I felt were being imposed on me. Why couldn’t I be a mother and have a career?”

Will Demi and husband Ashton Kutcher have a child? Moore says they discuss the possibility, raving as always about Ashton’s relationship with her children Rumer, Scout and Tullulah. Demi also says that more plastic surgery is a possibility, insisting that her face hasn’t been touched with the knife but her body has. Moore dismisses speculation that she’s spent over $200,000 on plastic surgery.

It’s incredibly inspiring to see a woman like Demi Moore make peace with her own body. If she can’t love the women in the mirror, we’re all in trouble.

After letting the rest of the world ‘handle you’ in ways that usually undercut one’s sense of self, rather than building it up, Demi Moore is her own life manager.

I went looking for some more recent photos of Demi Moore. We spend so much time looking at women who hate their bodies, it might be refreshing to see a woman whose spirit allows her to say ‘not bad!’ Anne
