The Takashi Murakami x MLB Tokyo Series Launching by Fanatics x Complex Shop

Japanese art star Takashi Murakami wants us to know he has more than one love besides Zendaya’s latest drop fronting his Louis Vuitton collaboration. With his new Major League Baseball collection, the artist hopes to build on what he sees as the “historical friendship between Japan and the United States.”

The Takashi Murakami x MLB Tokyo Series collection launches March 7, 2025 in advance of the series between the Cubs and Dodgers that opens the MLB baseball season at the Tokyo Dome on March 18-19.

The collaboration is a project of Fanatics x Complex Shop. Fanatics is a leading designer, manufacturer, and seller of licensed sports gear.

“I feel lucky to be able to work alongside Complex, MLB and highlight Shohei Ohtani, an outstanding athlete who has emerged from Japan and made a name for himself on the global stage,” Murakami said in a statement. “This is something I am overwhelmed with gratitude to be a part of."

Murkami has an independent relationship with Ohtani, launched in 2024 with EVA foam sliders and the Ohana Hatake brand, meaning “field of flowers”.

The Takashi Murakami x MLB Limited Edition 2025 Tokyo Series Collection will be available to shop online via Complex Fanatics, and MLBshop starting March 7. Meanwhile, select pieces from the collection will be available in-person during the MLB Tokyo Series games, as well as at Dodger Stadium and Wrigley Field. Additionally, the MLB flagship store in New York will also have select products available.

Fans are invited to check out exclusive Complex pop-ups in Tokyo and Los Angeles that will feature the Takashi Murakami x MLB collaboration. First up is the Complex LA pop-up, set to run from March 7 through March 9, followed by a Shibuya pop-up set to run from March 8 through March 21.
