Humanrace Samba Colors by Pharrell Debuts at VB 'Something in the Water' Festival
/AOC shares exciting news about the ongoing collaboration between Pharrell Williams and adidas — Humanrace Samba Colors by Pharrell, a collection of luxury footwear in a depth of colorways that embody the diversity and energy of Humanrace’s DNA.
Last weekend at Pharrell’s ‘Something in the Water’ Festival in Virginia Beach, music lovers with an Atlantic Ocean view got their first look at five new Humanrace Samba colorways: Yellow, Orange, Pink, Lilac, and Red. A Humanrace green colorway is also available exclusively to friends and family of the brand.
Pharrell elevates the Samba with all-around high-end leather upper and leather shoelaces sourced from ECCO Leather, a world leader in innovative and premium leather.
ECCO Leather’s water-saving tanning technology saves 20 liters of water per hide. The result is environmentally more sustainable production but higher color saturation. Humanrace always uses non-toxic vegetable dyes, and AOC assumes that is the case here. Read the Humanrace sustainability pledges.

/Adidas Is ‘Re-Evaluating’ its partnership with Balenciaga, “pausing” all co-created product launches “until further notice.”
The news came quietly, with customers supplying Sneaker Freaker with copies of emails they’ve received from adidas regarding the pre-order of Balenciaga/adidas Stan Smith trainers.
In a bit of irony, Balenciaga tells customers a different story, that the “trainers will be delayed in shipment” and that “We will notify you again once the item is shipped.”
In case you thought this might be a coordinated message between the two brands to the same customers, it obviously was not.

/Unlike Nike’s Michael Jordan standalone partnership, where the two groups are separate but both flying under the Nike banner, the Adidas - Kanye West relationship was run under the Adidas organization. Separate teams were created for the Yeezy business, but the staff was Adidas for the most part.
According to Rolling Stone, the Adidas employees claimed that senior managers were aware of West’s “problematic behaviour” but “turned their moral compass off” and failed to protect its employees against “years of verbal abuse, vulgar tirades, and bullying attacks.”
West appears to have been a rude, crude, demanding, demeaning, controlling, sleezy, misogynist provocateur in his role as a critical Adidas partner.

/Kanye West, legally known as Ye, has declared his candidacy for the 2024 presidential run.
Factually-speaking it’s widely confirmed that Ye did in fact dine with Trump Mar-a-Lago, along with white nationalist Nicolas Fuentes and Milo Yiannopoulos, earlier this month.
Milo Yiannopoulos, previously known as ‘The Dangerous Faggot’, has been announced as Kanye West’s 2024 campaign manager. Supposedly he has renounced his gayness and is opening a gay conversion therapy center in Florida.

/Adidas announced that Bjørn Gulden will take over as CEO on 1 January 2023, after leading a successful Puma rerival. The announcement should help to stabilize financial markets’ perception of Adidas, given Gulden’s leadership at the brand as senior vice president of apparel and accessories in the 1990s,.
“We are very pleased to welcome Bjørn Gulden back at Adidas. [He] brings almost 30 years of experience in the sporting goods and footwear industry. As a result, he knows the industry extremely well and draws on a rich network in sport and retail,” said Thomas Rabe, chairman of the supervisory board. “Bjørn already served Adidas successfully for seven years in the 1990s. As CEO of Puma, he reinvigorated the brand and led the company to record results.

/AOC was asleep at the wheel on the subject of Candice Owen and her husband George Farmer, who she married in 2019, being the power couple behind Parler.
Republican mega donor Rebekah Mercer would take issue with who is in charge of Parler, as she controls two of three board seats. To be honest, the Mercer heiress hasn’t gotten much of a return on her investment in uber-right-wing media investments: Parler, Breitbart News and Cambridge Analytica.
The Parler app got banned in the aftermath of America’s January 6 insurrection because it was a haven for communication and calls to war among those who want to overthrow the US government. Apple, and other social media, banned Parler after the Jan. 6 riot.
The Washington Post broke down the whole story on Tuesday, with Candace Owens and Kanye West’s provocative friendship, explained. A subscriber to WaPo, I missed it because it was in the Style section. Although I’m sure the headline was a small one on the front page.

/Adidas, the German sportswear giant had faced pressure from the public and its own employees to cut ties with Ye, who said on a podcast on Oct. 16: “I can say anti-Semitic things, and Adidas can’t drop me. Now what?”
Adidas said in a statement: “Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”
“After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.”

/Today, Oct. 24, film and television studio MRC announced that it will not release a finished documentary on Kanye West, following his anti-Semetic comments. “This morning, after discussion with our filmmakers and distribution partners, we made the decision not to proceed with any distribution for our recently completed documentary about Kanye West,” CEO Modi Wiczyk, CEO Asif Satchu, and COO Scott Tenley wrote in a joint statement sent to the media. “We cannot support any content that amplifies his platform.”
Asked if MRC had submitted the Kanye West documentary to festivals, executives responded that “all activities are being pulled.”
In their open letter, the MRC leaders wrote that West has helped “mainstream” antisemitism in the current climate. “The silence from leaders and corporations when it comes to Kanye or antisemitism, in general, is dismaying but not surprising. What is new and sad, is the fear Jews have about speaking out in their own defense,” Wiczyk, Satchu and Tenley wrote.

/Question: “Anne, why are you reporting on a soccer swap? You don’t follow soccer. You are playing with our minds, Anne.”
Anne’s Answer: Because AOC loves the Dutch as people, and Amsterdam is a very cool place. I’ve been there several times.
Most important is that Ajax Amsterdam just scored their third collab with Adidas x Daily Paper, and AOC LOVES Daily Paper. If Daily Paper loves Ajax Amsterdam, so do we.
AOC believes in logic . . . just like we believe in science. We are not MAGA insurrectionist Reds. AOC is for Blues.

Looking at Harlem-born designer and talk show host Kerwin Frost’s new collab sneaker with Adidas, one wonders if it’s capable to triggering nightmares. AOC chooses to take a more benign read on his Forum Hi designed to resemble a horse face.
If wearing the sneakers causes some gang member dude to threaten you with a pistol-whipping unless you get those terrifying sneakers off the street — well, you’ve still invested in a piece of modern art. Note the nose turds — or even a terrified penis trying to escape the screams of horror induced by this sneaker.
Could the ‘Horse’ face sneaker just be a sick joke? Stay tuned on Frost’s Insta.
On a more positive note, perhaps the sneaker drop is timed to coincide with Beyoncé’s Ivy Park X Adidas Rodeo collab?

I’ll bet you don’t know that an estimated 25 percent of America’s cowboys were Black. With Republicans trying to deny critical race theory, perhaps those of us who support BLM and teaching Black history to kids in school can start wearing Kerwin Frost’s horse sneakers in Republican neighborhoods.
We could make it like a voodoo curse, which Kerwin Frost loves. Then again, Republicans are locked and loaded with assault weapons, so we would all probably die in our desire to be disruptive seekers of democracy in America. Bad idea, Anne.
