Burberry Spring 2024 Campaign by Tyrone Lebon Enlists Unique, Inspiring Cast

Burberry Spring 2024 Campaign by Tyrone Lebon Enlists Unique, Inspiring Cast

After spreading its British wings to international cities with its ‘Burberry Streets’ sightings, Burberry’s Daniel Lee again heads home, assembling a motley British-related and credentialed crew for the brand’s Spring 2024 campaign.

Tyrone Lebon again is the photographer for Burberry, rowing in total synchronocity with Daniel Lee.

One sports figure in the campaign is professional boxer Somali-British Ramla Ali, who is also a Dior ambassador. She’s rather dear to AOC’s heart.

The founder of Sisters Club, Ali scored a vindicating win over Julissa Guzman, in early November. The luxury brands boxer suffered a ‘shocking’ defeat to Guzman in June 2023, which is why we use the word ‘vindicating’.

Oyadeas! The Burberry Holiday 2023 Campaign Is A Splendiferous Emotional Getaway

Oyadeas! The Burberry Holiday 2023 Campaign Is A Splendiferous Emotional Getaway

Oyadeas! I simply adore Creative Director Daniel Lee’s Burberry Holiday [IG] 2023 campaign. ADORE IT!! It’s charming, genuine, not camp but quiet luxury gone a tiny bit wild.

Roe Ethridge [IG] shoots this precious masterpiece, with creative direction by Carina Frey and Stefanie Barth.

The logo fully communicates Burberry without ruining the larger-image, buy-me item. He’s leaving before you can be annoyed with him — sort of like an apparition. He’s like “Chill, Anne, I’m leaving.”

Actually the Burberry knight reminds me of the Tribute of Light show outside my high-floor, lower Manhattan window after Sept. 11 in New York. Tribute always came to visit us and even stayed the night. But then he was gone when I woke up, off to bring a bit of hope and serenity elsewhere in our complicated world.

For a couple years we tried to trap him for at least a cup of morning French Roast, but Tribute always outsmarted us, slipping out the window at dawn.

Burberry's New Pop-Ups and Immersive Events Design Live Well in a Psilocybin World

Burberry's New Pop-Ups and Immersive Events Design Live Well in a Psilocybin World

The field of Burberry winter 2023 purple roses popping into the first floor of Seoul’s Shinsegae Department Store's Gangnam branch is a feast for our psilocybin-loving eyes.

This new Burberry pop-up in Seoul is sophisticated, charming in a totally-modern way and also a reflection of ‘restrained psychedelic design’. There is nothing ‘flashy’ about the visual design. It beckons us, however to explore the shop — which is a key attribute of a successful pop-up.

‘Restrained Psychedelic Design’

Magic mushrooms inspired profound introspection and spiritual connections long before the rise of monotheism.

In a world where psilocybin use is coming at us in a profound and urgent way — after a Nixon-administration 50-year ban — my reaction to the Burberry purple roses display was instantaneous.

My memory was transported to my own use of psilocybin and a dark night walk I took, eventually sitting down next to a flower bed on my own lawn.

Daniel Lee Rolls On As Burberry Resort 2024 Meets London New Bond Street Store Renovation

Daniel Lee Rolls On As Burberry Resort 2024 Meets London New Bond Street Store Renovation

On June 29, 2023 creative director Daniel Lee’s evolution of the Burberry brand continued with the opening of the renovated New Bond Street store in London.

The 22,000 sq m space stretching over three floors, has been transformed into a minimal, modern space with an with open-plan design.

It’s safe to say that in the area of store design, Burberry has met the 21st century, and there is nothing uniquely British about the interior environment.

Burberry Summer 2023 Swimwear Collection Channels Adventure and Burberry Check

Burberry Summer 2023 Swimwear Collection Channels Adventure and Burberry Check

British luxury house Burberry unveiled its Summer 2023 Swimwear Collection channeling the brand’s signature code of adventure.

It was Jacqueline Dillemman - a buyer in Burberry’s Paris store, who had a flash of inspiration in 1967, while preparing a presentation for the British ambassador Sir Patrick Reilley.

Dillemman removed [cut out] the check lining from a coat lining and wrapped it around luggage and an umbrella. Voilà. The Burberry Check was reborn for today’s world.

There’s zero politics that I see in the campaign. But there’s much about the ‘60s and early ‘70s that did embrace a revolutionary optimism among open-minded young people worldwide.

This early concept of the global citizen was not universally shared in America or Britain or in most countries of the world. But the idea took root in the minds of millions of young people, who never dreamed that it would be so difficult to get to the promised land 60+ years later. ~ Anne

Burberry Drops New Creative Expression-2 by Tyrone Lebon in a Good Start

Burberry Drops New Creative Expression-2 by Tyrone Lebon in a Good Start

Daniel Lee’s Burberry debut is gaining momentum, as he charts a new course for the brand. This part 2 drop of the new ad campaign called ‘The New Creative Expression’ delivers new personalities to help define the Burberry ‘family’.

The Burberry Family Expands

South Korean football star Son Heung-min became a Burberry ambassador in June 2022. The brand devotes major online presence to a serious interview with the Premier League player, now living in the UK.

Entering the Burberry fam is Georgia May Jagger, who delivers near British royalty as the daughter of The Rolling Stones singer Sir Mick Jagger and model Jerry Hall. Jagger also delivers a sensual jolt to the emerging Burberry narrative.

The star of the campaign is the Equestrian Knight logo, revived from the brand’s archives and oh so Burberry. Add him to a corgi image, and the Brits are swooning. I adore its presence everywhere — in an almost off-kilter manner. The knight is also ubiquituous in the fall 2023 collection — on labels in unexpected places. ‘Off-kilter’ is a Burberry theme on my mind.

Daniel Lee's Burberry Spring 2023 Campaign by Tyrone Lebon Targets British Identity

Daniel Lee's Burberry Spring 2023 Campaign by Tyrone Lebon Targets British Identity

It was difficult to miss the equestrian knight motif racing across the new Spring 2023 Burberry Campaign as part of “the first creative expression” shared by Daniel Lee, Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer.

For AOC, our focus was on the faces of the British heritage brand Burberry, the visualization of who wears this brand.

Daniel Lee, with roots in West Yorkshire, England agrees. “Burberry flies the flag for Britishness and for the UK and for culture. So, we have to use our platforms because we have a responsibility to communicate those things,” Lee told ‘Vogue Runway’ in December.

The designer continued:

"I don’t know if this is the right way to say this, but more than surprising people, I really would like them to see the new vision and feel reassured — like, ‘Oh, yeah, this makes sense: This is what Burberry should be.’”

Daniel Lee Becomes Burberry Creative Director As Riccardo Tisci Departs

Daniel Lee Becomes Burberry Creative Director As Riccardo Tisci Departs

Riccardo Tisci’s departure from Burberry is not unexpected — and none of the rumblings questions around Tisci’s design talent of vision. The question involved much more the continuation of his edgy and goth aesthetic at Burberry — the look that brought him great notoriety and success at Givenchy.

Most creatives and fashion writers don’t engage themselves in a brand’s financial performance. Loving a collection is all that counts. Choosing words that should not be misconstrued by readers, Vogue’s Sarah Mower queried the strategic wisdom of Tisci’s border-free, non-nationalistic points of view.”

When AOC looked at financial performance under Tisci’s Burberry, clearly the brand basically treaded water. For every new Burberry customer, the luxury brand lost an existing one.
